Jakarta (Insider Stories) - Shareholders of PT Indocement Tunggal Prakarsa Tbk (INTP) approved the appointment of Christian Kartawijaya as the company’s new president director, replacing Daniel Lavalle, the company said in a brief prospectus published in Bisnis Indonesia.
Christian started his career at Indocement in 1994 as Senior Staff of Corporate Finance. It was seven years before the German cement maker Hedelberg Cement acquired a majority stake in the second largest cement producer in Indonesia in 2001.
With time, he climbed into higher positions, including Deputy CFO & Corporate Finance (1994-2001) and finance director (2004-2011).
He resigned from his finance director position in 2011 before the extraordinary general meeting of shareholders on Friday (12/6) appointed him back as a director until April 30, 2014.
From May 1, 2014, he will officially become the new president director of Indocement.
Christian has a sound reputation. In 2007 he received the Best Chief Financial Officer Award from Hongkong-based Finance Asia Magazine.
Christian has a degree in Civil Engineering from University of Trisakti in Jakarta (1989), Master of Business Administration in Corporate Finance from San Diego State University, California, the United States (1994) and Master of Art in Christian Education from SWBTS, Fort Worth, Texas (2013).
Prior to joining Indocement, he has experience in various companies, including as Site Manager and Site Engineer at private construction company PT Total Bangun Persada (1989-1991); as Business Development Manager for Auto Dealership at Indomobil Group, (1993-1994)and as a director at sugar manufacturer and refiner PT Indo Lampung Perkasa (1999-2001).
Christian has also been active in education sector. He was an assistant Professor for Production Operation Management at San Diego State University, California (1992-1994) and was a lecturer at University of Atmajaya in Jakarta for Corporate Finance & Strategy class (2001-2004).
