Indonesian state-run oil and gas producer PT Pertamina plans to import three cargoes of crude oil from Iran. Pertamina VP for Integrated Supply Chain, Daniel Purba said that the Pertamina is still unable to import crude oil and gas from Iran due to payment problems and is still negotiating this business transaction with Iran. Pertamina targeting to have daily production 830,000 barrels per day in this year. Crude oil from Iran is important to fulfill Indonesia’s domestic needs because Indonesia does not produce enough LPG to meet domestic demand. Pertamina still has to import almost 60 percent of the LPG used in Indonesia, and imports are expected to rise annually in line with increased consumption. Pertamina is also exploring the possibility of buying crude oil from other companies in Indonesia. To maximize the oil supply from overseas and Indonesia, Pertamina is currently considering to rent refineries from several countries in Asia Pacific, such as India, Korea, Japan, China and Singapore.
