JAKARTA (TheInsiderStories) – Key shareholders of Indosat Ooredoo have expressed their high hopes on newly appointed Joy Wahjudi as new President Director and Chief Executive Officer of the company, saying the new CEO will guide the company to a higher growth level, amid intense competition in the telecom industry.
Indosat shareholders officially appointed Wahjudi at the company’s extraordinary shareholders meeting on Tuesday (Nov. 14), replacing Alexander Rusli, who tendered his resignation in September.
Wahjudi has more than 20 years of experience in the telecommunication industry and has been known for his breakthroughs and strategic moves, all of which should help the company to record “future significant growth”.
“An effective and disciplined succession plan is an important aspect, as a key to success and core competence of competitive edge of Indosat Ooredoo,” Director of Indosat Ooredoo Johnny Ingembar Svedberg said.
Wahjudi began his carrier in telecommunication industry as GM Finance & Treasury at Mobile Selular Indonesia. In 1997, he joined XL Axiata as GM Finance Controller, and was then appointed as GM Corporate Strategy in 2000-2003, GM Sales Business Solution in 2003-2005, VP Region in 2005-2006 and Chief Commerce Officer in 2006-Feb. 2014.
He earned his Master’s of Business Administration in International Business from the University of California, U.S.
Indosat said in a statement that Joy Wahjudi has been groomed for around three years before being appointed to the current position.
Indosat booked a net profit of Rp784.21 billion in the first semester of 2017, jumping 83 per cent from the same period last year, while its revenues grew at a moderate rate of 8 per cent to Rp15.11 trillion.
