JAKARTA (TheInsiderStories) – With the white t-shirt with Tagline “Bersih, Merakyat, Kerja Nyata” (Clean, Pro People, Real Work), Joko Widodo and his running mate Ma’ruf Amin registered his candidacy to General Election Commissions this morning.

Hundreds of his supporter gathered today at Gedung Joeang 1945 to escort the two candidates to the General Election Commission office. All his coalition accompany the two candidates together with his supporters.

“Today I and pak Ma’ruf Amin will enroll to the Commission,” he dlivered his speech to his supporters. In the past, he said, Gedung Joeang is represents the spirit of fighters to maintain Indonesian independence.

From this Gedung Joeang, Widodo sait, he and Amin will started the beginning of their fight to defend the independence that has been championed by fighters like Bung Karno, Bung Hatta, Adam Malik and others.

He stressed it, in four years since established as a president, his government has created a solid condition to move faster and more powerful.

“Amin is the right figure to hit the target, he is a figure that is intact, scholars wise, has a long experience in the bureaucracy. He was rois am and chairman of the Indonesian Council Ulema. This means that he had the complete experience,” said Widodo.

Furthermore, he aims to overcome the economic problems by strengthening the people welfare and Indonesian economy. Amin, said Widodo, has proposed the “New Economy of Indonesia” program to him.

“We want to make people feel proud to be Indonesian. We want to continue even distribution of the Indonesian economy, safeguard our sovereignty, safeguard national assets and we want as much as possible for the people of Indonesia. This is the foundation on which we have prepared and we will continue,” he stated.

Ma’ruf is a leading and influential figure of the country’s largest Islamic organization Nahdatul Ulama. Widodo finally picked Amin as his running mate in a last minute decision after leaders of all political parties in his coalition agreed so.
Before the announcement, it was said that Widodo was set to run with former Constitutional Court justice Mahfud MD.
