JAKARTA (TheInsiderStories) – Golkar party politician Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita has been appointed as a new Minister for Social Affairs by President Joko Widodo, replacing Idrus Marham  who resigned from the position due to the alleged graft case.

Gumiwang was inaugurated in State Palace Jakarta on Friday (24/08) at 15.30 local time. A moment ago, Marham had submitted his resignation from the Widodo’s Working Cabinet after being named a suspect in a graft case by the Corruption Eradication Commission, said the senior official on Friday (24/08).

The son of former coordinating minister for economy, financial and industry Ginanjar Kartasasmita in the Soeharto era was born in Jakarta on Jan. 3, 1969.

Currently Gumiwang is a member of the Indonesian Parliament and get a Doctoral Program at the Government Science of Padjajaran University in Bandung, West Java. Prior, he get a masters degree from Pasundan University after graduated from Pacific Western University and Northeastern University.

His politic career started since 1989 until now through Golkar Party. Now Gumiwang position as the secretary of Golkar Party Faction since 2017.

Gumiwang started his carrier as a steward of GEMA, a youth organization under Golkar party. From 2004 to 2009 Agus become one of the board leader of Golkar party.

From 1997 to 1999, Agus represented the Indonesian Builders Association as member of People Consultative Assembly. In 2009 election he was elected as member of parliament representing West Java 3 electorate.

Now, Gumiwang become a commissioner of private company PT Asiana Lintas Development and has a position as a president director of PT Agumar Eka in 1994  to 1999.
