Kalbe Farma Acquires Beverages Maker Hale International
Jakarta, May 31, 2012 (Press Release) – PT Kalbe Farma Tbk (“Kalbe” or “the Company”) on May 30, 2012 entered into a Conditional Sale and Purchase Agreement to acquire 100% stake of PT Hale International, an Indonesian-based producer of healthy beverage products.
“This acquisition will strengthen Kalbe’s ready-to-drink business in Consumer Health Division, in line with our strategy to expand our product portfolio by offering beverage products with health benefits,” Vidjongtius, Kalbe’ Director and Corporate Secretary remarked. “
Through this acquisition, Kalbe will have a production facility for ready-to-drink products in Indonesia which will be a preparation step for Kalbe to accelerate launch of ready-to-drink products with health benefits. We believe that theIndonesian ready-to-drink market offers huge potential to grow, and these products have the potential to generate more than Rp 100 billion in sales in the next 2 – 3 years.”
PT Hale International engages in the production of healthy fruit juice products in PET bottles since 2007. Well-known brands are Original Love Juice in various variants such as orange, apple and guava and Pome Rama, a pomegranate juice, known to be rich in antioxidants.
The transaction amounts to approximately Rp 100 billion and the Company is currently finalizing the transaction with expected completion in a few months time.
