JAKARTA (TheInsiderStories) - The House of Representative (DPR) Commission III members have picked Agus Rahardjo as new Head of the country’s Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) for period of 2015-2019.
The existing top officials of KPK Johan Budi and Busyro Muqoddas were omitted after failed to get enough votes from the Commission III members.
Agus (59) god his post graduate degree from Arthur D. Little Management education Institute, USA. His last job was the Head for Government’s Goods and Service Policy Institute.
During a hearing with the House Commission, Agus appears to adopt for soft approach in dealing with corrupt cases. When asked about whether KPK should maintain its power to catch corruptors red-handed (OTT), he said he agreed with OTT, but there should be a warning before hand.
Activists have expressed their concerned that the new KPK chairman and board members would make KPK to be less powerful in handling corrupt cases in the country.
The four other KPK new board members are for expert staff of State Intelligence Agency (BIN) Saut Situmorang, senior police officer Basaria Panjaitan, a judge at the corruption court Alexander Marwata and lecturer at Hasanuddin University, Makassar, Laode M. Syarif. (*)
