JAKARTA (TheInsiderStories) - Indonesia posted trade deficit of US$230 million in December, after posting trade deficit of US$350 billion in November, partly due to a rise in investment, which prompted companies and investors to import capital goods and equipment.

Data issued by the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) showed on Friday that Indonesia posted exports of US$11.89 billion in the December from previous month US$11.11 billion, or up 7.02 percent and fell by 14.6 percent to US$150.25 billion percent from the same months in 2014.

Imports dropped by 2.26 percent in December from previous month US$12.40 billion to US$12.12 billion. This led a trade deficit after recording surplus in November.

On yearly basis, imports dropped even faster, by 19.9 percent to US$142.74 billion. Last year’s trade surplus was $7.51 billion, compared with a deficit of $2.2 billion in 2014.
