Indonesian military postponed the cooperation with ADF Australia

JAKARTA (TheInsiderStories) - Head of Information Center of the Indonesian National Armed Forces Headquarters Major General Wuryanto justify the postponement of military cooperation between the TNI and the Australian Defence Force (ADF), local wire Kompas reported. Wuryanto refused to explain the reasons of the delay cooperation between the two countries, He only said is just a technical issue.

Wuryanto also refused to tell which party is the cause of up to cause trouble. From the information that was searched by Kompas, Indonesian Army previously sent a letter to ADF on Dec. 9, 2016 concerning the discontinuation of military cooperation between the two sides.

It was triggered by the experience of trainers from Corps Special Forces (Kopassus) who taught the Australian special forces. When teaching, the coach was aware of the lessons the contents vilify the military academy.

When facing the headmaster at the academy to raise objections, the coach of the Kopassus instead found another article whose contents actually insulting state symbol of Indonesia, Pancasila.

Secutiry Director of the Institute for Defense and Peace Studies (IDSPS) Mufti Makarim contacted separately, said the Australian military stance in the domain of political discourse in Indonesia is not appropriate. Meanwhile, in a letter on Dec. 29, 2016, the Armed Forces Commander Gen. Gatot Nurmantyo instructed to suspend all military cooperation, including training with the ADF.

Telegram signed TNI chief Assistant Operations Major General TNI Commander General Risdhianto as the follow up TNI commander letter’s on Dec. 9, 2016 on the temporary suspension of military cooperation activities of ADF and TNI. Letter was addressed to the TNI chief Air Chief Marshal Binskin MD, as the Australian Armed Forces.

According to Mufti, Ministry of Foreign Affairs should evaluate the foreign policy of the Republic of Indonesia.
