JAKARTA (TheInsiderStories) - Malaysian low cost airline AirAsia Bhd, plans to increase its fleet to 304 aircraft unit Airbus A320neo types until 2028. Of the total 304 aircraft, four of which have been accepted by Air Asia on the Sept. 7. The company have operated a fleet of 200 Airbus entirely.
AirAsia Group CEO, Tony Fernandes, said the addition of this fleet to support the company’s business development plans in low cost airline sector. Currently, AirAsia has been serving 120 destinations in Asia, Australia, New Zealand, the Middle East to Africa, all countries in ASEAN with a base of operations in Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines, and India and Japan.
Besides 304 A320neo aircraft, currently AirAsia ordered 100 units of Airbus 321neo type and the type A330neo and A350.
AirAsia also announced has signed a cooperation agreement A320neo aircraft component support service with Air France Industries KLM Engineering & Maintenance (AFI KLM E & M). Cooperation between the two companies include service and repair solution components that are specifically designed to maximize aircraft availability, including the provision of spare parts at the facility AirAsia is based in Kuala Lumpur.
“We are very pleased to partner with AFI KLM E & M, a strong and dynamic as well as AirAsia. Operates a fleet of latest generation aircraft on a large scale requires the support services that are adaptive and world class, and we are fully convinced that AFI KLM E & M is able to provide it,” Tony said in a press statement.
