JAKARTA (TheInsiderStories) - State owned port operator, which manages the international port Tanjung Priok, targets to cut the dwelling time - loading and unloading time, to one day as a move to improve efficiency of the port operation.
President Director of Pelindo II Elvyn G Massyassa said after a meeting the Coordinating Minister for the Maritime Affairs Luhut Binsar Panjaitan on Monday that one way to cut the dwelling time is that the clearance process of containers will be not be done at the Tanjung Priok port, instead at Cikarang dryport.
“We are determine to cut the dwelling time. To achieve the target, we have to coordinate with customs office and other related agencies,” he said.
He said the Cikarang dryport has the capacity to process up to 400,000 TEUS per day. He added in the first phase, the port operator prioritize containers that are going to be delivered to Cikarang. This, he said, is expected to be realized next year.
Currently, the dwelling time at the Tanjung Priok port is average 3 days.
Containers with end destination of Cibinong, Tangerang and others will follow. (*)
