JAKARTA (TheInsiderStories) - The national police on Tuesday caught red-handed officials at the Transportation Ministry for receiving bribery related to vessel permit. President Joko Widodo witnesses the operation.
Chief National Police General Tito Karnavian said, the police has caught section chief directorate general of marine and others on extortion at he sea permit.
After witnessing the operation, the President ordered all the government officials to stop extortion and ask Minister of Transportation to fire employees who are implicated in the corruption.
Tito said, in operation, the police found Rp61 million and around Rp1 billion in the saving of the section chief saving.
Police today were digging through public service room on the 6th and 12th floor of the building.
Earlier in the Restricted Meeting at the Presidential Office, on Tuesday, President Jokowi has decided to hold Combating Extortion and Smuggling Operation (OPP) as one of the steps of legal reform in the country.
“It is now no such thing OPP (Operation Eradication of extortion and smuggling), just an hour ago, had events like this,” said the President at the meeting.
Cabinet Secretary Pramono Agung told reporters that the President assigns to the Coordinating Minister for Politics to formulate, finalize and Combating Extortion Operations executed immediately.

In the OTT extortion, Police arrested six people, of whom two unscrupulous civil servants of Ministry of Transportation. OTT carried out at around 3 pm.
