JAKARTA (TheInsiderStories) - Singapore-based PT Enerco RPO Internasional is developing a Treated Distillate Aromatic Extract (TDAE) refinery at Kabil Integrated Industrial Zone, Batam Island, with estimated investment of US$98 million on 2.3 hectares of land.
In addition, Koh Brothers of Singapore is also planning to invest in developing waste management and infrastructure projects in Batam.
Head of BP Batam Hatanto Reksodipoetro announced the Enerco ‘s investment project after signing of memorandum between BP Batam and Kabil Industrial Zone.
The engineering of project has been started on Oct. 2015 and is targeted to be finished at end of 2017.
The TDAE plant will have capacity of 100,000 tons of rubber process oil with TDAE type per year. The product from the refinery will be used to support rubber and tyre industry.
Hendro Sutandi, Commissioner of Enerco stated, the refinery is the first and the the biggest in Asian region.
The Head of BP Batam Hatanto Reksodipoetro said, BP Batam will facilitate all permits needed by Enerco to realize the development of the Treated Distilate Aromatic Extract on the Batam Island.
“We hope the signing of the MOU will lure more investors investing in Indonesia, in particular Batam. We will show that Batam is conducive for investment including developing infrastructure,” he said at the signing ceremony of the agreement at the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs office.
Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Darmin Nasution added Batam is prepared to become special economic zone.

Meanwhile, Francis Koh K. S., Group CEO of Koh Brothers Group Limited of Singapore said Koh Brothers is interested to invest in waste water management and infrastructure projects in Batam through public private partnership (PPP) scheme.
Francis told the Insider Stories after signing a memorandum of understanding with BP Batam that currently Koh Brothers is currently exploring a number of investment opportunities in areas of waste water management, waste to power projects as well infrastructure projects.
“We choose Batam as it is close to Singapore. We are also familiar with Batam,” Francis said.
