JAKARTA (TheInsiderStories) – President Joko Widodo has received four potential candidates to become the new governor of Bank Indonesia, according to Vice President Special Staff Sofjan Wanandi.
The candidates are Chatib Basri (former Finance Minister), Bambang Brodjonegoro (Minister of National Development Planning), Perry Warjiyo (BI Deputy Governor) and Agus D.W Martowardojo (current BI Governor).
Wanandi pointed out the decision will be made, after the President review the profile of each candidate.
“Now we are just waiting for the President’s decision, he already knows the strengths and weakness of each candidate,” said Wanandi, Friday (9/2).
Previously, President Joko Widodo has said that the candidate he will recommend to replace Agus Martowardojo must be trusted by both the market and the general public. Martowardojo is set to retire in May this year.
“The person must be trusted by the market for his capability in dealing with macroeconomic and monetary aspects and inflation. He should also be trusted by the public,” Jokowi said on Friday when attending the University of Indonesia’s 68th anniversary, as reported by news agency Antara.
